aftercare

So you’ve just gotten extensions and you can’t quite remember everything that you learned at your appointment. Don’t sweat it, all the information you need to know is right here:

washing 101

1

  • Try to limit washing to 1-2X per week
  • wash row by row; use clips to help you work from the bottom up
  • scrub the scalp in a zig zag motion rather than up and down
  • shampoo twice, rinsing between
  • use conditioner from your ear down; leave on for 3-5 minutes before rinsing
  • always rinse a few times to make sure all the product is gone
  • incorporate a clarifying shampoo to the routine every other week
  • you MUST use a hydrating mask on the extensions once a week; dampen hair, apply mask, let sit for 30-60 minutes, rinse in shower, follow with shampoo regime

sleeping

2

  • never go to bed with wet hair
  • brush thoroughly before going to sleep
  • always sleep in a low pony-tail, one large braid, or 2 side braids
  • sleep on a silk or satin pillowcase
  • use silk or satin scrunchies at bed time
  • use oil/serum before going to bed

daily routine

3

  • use oil/serum morning & night
  • always brush from the bottom-up
  • hold onto extension attachment area while brushing
  • brush multiple times per day
  • use dry shampoo if necessary to combat oils
  • do not wear your hair up in a high pony/bun more than once a week; this can cause tension which can lead to hair loss

styling routine

4

  • use heat protection before all hot tools
  • don’t use heat everyday
  • do not exceed 350 degrees with your hot tools
  • do not use round brushes or the round blow dry brushes
